Which is better- South American or European Football? (Discussion)

Many football fans are either supporters of European teams, or South American ones. It’s easy to see these 2 continents are ahead of the rest when it comes to championships and football culture.

But which one is better?

South American football is said to be a lot more open and fun, with more free-styling moves. European football is taken to be a lot more strategic and stern, but also defensive and less entertaining.

In my opinion, European football is better. Strategy and mechanics are better than trusting your luck. In addition, I think European football works more on the coach’s abilities and the entire team, whereas South American football teams sometimes rely on one or 2 big players, which is less cool and sporty.

What’s your opinion?

Clearly, the best football currently played is done in Europe. The English Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Portuguese Superliga, Dutch Eredivisie, French Lique, etc. These leaguse have the best footballers on the planet. I follow all footballe played around the globe and enjoy it all. The leagues in Europe are a ahead of the curve.

I beg to differ Oren…I am a big fan of South American football. They play aggressive football.Always on the attack. They show what dribbling is.Its all about skill.Whereas European football is very mechanical. They play passes and are on a defensive note(except for a few teams)

If you see the world rankings too,Argentina is at the numero uno position followed by Brazil.

But as albrecht says league football in Europe is the best.

Albert and koustabhdolui- I agree that South American football is more passionate and aggressive. On the other hand, I don’t think it’s such a great thing. Their games may be more fast-paced and such, but I rather watch a good mechanical game where it’s a game of both legs and mind- with European teams it’s all about strategy and developing good defending into surprise attacks. Just look at the last game between Spain and Italy in the Euro Cup- Italy is probably the #1 defensive team there is, but it was a good game with some nice shots.

Then again, I guess it’s just my individual opinion…
